On August 19th and 20th, I had the extreme pleasure in attending "Toast n' Jam” at The New Black Centre for Music and Art. This is an event planned for young musicians within the Calgary Area to be exposed to the music industry.  It was incredible, all 7 bands impressed me, and the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting! OTW had lots of shout-outs during the event, maybe because we supplied some prizes, or maybe because we truly embrace good music!?!? Hopefully a little bit of both. Can’t wait for next year!

 

In May, OTW teamed up with Canadian Blood Services. Thanks to YOUR $2 donations, we collected $5,666.94 for CBS. Steve Harding, Executive Director of Development, received this cheque and was very ecstatic at everyone's contributions! Thanks again ladies'n'gents!!

 

West 49 Take the Cake presented by Schick X3 and the Axe Twist Amateur Open is Canada's largest cash purse event in Canadian skateboarding history with $100,000.00 CDN in prize money being awarded. Thirteen of the worlds best international skaters will descend on Niagara Falls Oct 1-2, 2010 to showcase their tricks on a best trick stair set up. The excitement begins on Friday, October 1st with the Axe Twist Amateur Open Qualifiers - which will give one skater the pass to ride with the worlds best in Saturday's final feature. Saturday, October 2nd will play host to the Axe Twist Amateur Open Finals and the highly anticipated WEST 49 TAKE THE CAKE presented by Schick X3 contest. The two day event takes place in the open air with Niagara Falls in the backdrop and showcases a live performance from the artist SHAD. Plan to celebrate with us at the official warm up and wrap up parties. The Push.ca Skate Park will be open all day so bring your skate, and helmet, to join in the fun as well as hang out with the skate brands in the sponsor village. This ain't no joke folks! Our Burrard St. store went through some serious renovations & we had to roll out the red carpet for this one! What better excuse to throw a grand re-opening party?! To celebrate, we had a Quiksilver/Roxy photobooth, Antonia Allan was spinning all night, we served sushi on Billabong surfboards and Element decks, killer swag bags and prizes were handed out, and guys got tips from our Levi’s denim fit specialist! It was a party full of laughter, celebration, and good'ol'times! We also had some industry peeps in the house: Rebecca Tay (Fashion Magazine), May Globus (Vancouver city editor: Sweet Spot), and Malania Dela Cruz (PR, Matix). Thanks to all those that came out!!

 

Ahhhh - this is too bleepin' funny! You must watch NOW! Also - who's going to see 'Scott Pilgrim VS. the World' this Friday? We are so pumped. Its going to be pretty amazing!
