Movember totals are IN!

Movember is a global moustache growing charity event held during November that raises awareness and funds for cancers affecting men – specifically prostate cancer. Movember engages men to grow a Mo (slang for moustache) throughout the month, getting friends and fmaily to donate to their efforts.

In all of our OTW locations, customers were able to purchase a furry mo for $2.50, or make a $1 cash donation. The total amount raised was $8124.70!!!! Without the support of our customers, this could not have been possible. Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting Movember!!

The funds raised through Movember’s Canadian campaign go directly to Prostate Cancer Canada, which enables them to fund vital research that will lead to better screening tests and treatment options, and to run support services for men surviving prostate cancer.

Coldplay releases ‘Christmas Lights’

“Christmas Lights” by Coldplay was released on December 1st. Coldplay took time out from recording their new album with a rare one-off holiday song. The video was directed by Mat Whitecross and filmed in London on November 25th, 2010. The video is pretty amazing and uses pretty amazing cut-out props. We are anticipating their new album and were thrilled to hear a new holiday song from a great band. The video tops it off. Enjoy!!

In Loving Memory of Andy Irons

Official Statement: HONOLULU – (November 2, 2010) — The world of surfing mourns an incredibly sad loss today with the news that Hawaii’s Andy Irons has died. Andy was a beloved husband, and a true champion. Irons, 32,withdrew from a professional surfing event in Puerto Rico last weekend due to illness and passed away during a layover en-route to his home in Kauai, Hawaii. He had reportedly been battling with dengue fever, a viral disease. At this time the family thanks his friends and fans for their support,and asks that the community respect its privacy. The family also asks to not be contacted so their focus can remain on one another during this time of profound loss. [more]

It is with deep sadness that Billabong has learned of the news of Andy Irons’ passing. Andy was one of the greatest surfers of our time. More than that, he was a much loved son, a devoted husband and a soon-to-be father. The thoughts of all Billabong employees worldwide, Off The Wall included, are with wife Lyndie and Andy’s family at this most devastating time.
